SAFS (Association of American Football of Serbia) is designed to act as a coordinating body between the teams competing within the League and teams that are in their development process and are not within the League. SAFS’ bodies are: The Assembly, each team provides the Assembly with 3 representatives, regardless whether or not they are league teams; and The Board of Management, which does not have a constant number of members but each club provides it with one representative, who has club’s trusting reference in making crucial decisions on the spot. With regard to League particularities, only teams competing within it can take part in the decision-making process. There is also a Supervisory Board comprising of three members, elected by Assembly voting at teams’ suggestion.
SAFS has tasks and goals, and these include:
• Popularisation of AF in Serbia
• Membership of international institutions
• Creation of a referee organisation of certain quality, referee training and experience gaining
• Acquisition of equipment
• Creation of a national team players body
• League supervision and dispute-handling between teams
• Help provision for the developing teams
SAFS membership was free of charge until recently, however, in the future; a membership fee will be paid for the purposes of enabling more effective work of SAFS GM.
